I always thought fashion festivals are something industry people or ‘girls in the know’ would attend. What the heck.. I have a good excuse to attend now so I went ahead and purchased tickets for ‘ticketed events’. I’m not sure how many of free events I can attend but certainly these shows will hopefully entertain myself as well as my esteemed readers.
Perth Fashion Festival website is built really nicely to my surprise. It also changes the background colours and the imagery so it’s refreshing every time. Unfortunately the site is made with frames – oh I hate frames. Personally I don’t follow models so I don’t know their names but I believe all of them are Australian – would make sense wouldn’t it?
One thing I’m unsure at this point is whether I would be able to take any shots or I would be able to score photos of the runway shows from anywhere. I did write to the media section in the website asking if they had any provision for bloggers. Well, I know.. there’s no way. They would probably ignore my request. Hey who knows? If you guys make enough fuss here in my blog they might consider giving me some access to take photos!
The first show I’m attending is all about swim wear and street fashion on 3 September 2008.
Seafolly I believe is a fairly well known brand worldwide. You can get them at, for example, Nordstrom so they claim in the Seafolly website. The site does have a list of online retailers.
Industrie is one of my favourite men’s wear brands. They are incredibly wearable and not tacky or shabby. They also do women’s but not quite what I would wear tho. The website doesn’t really show its extensive range of shirts and jackets that are just gorgeous. I like this brand so much so that sometimes I wish I was a man!
Elwood, I don’t know this brand. When I googled what came up was an American retailer. The Australian brand doesn’t have a functional website yet so I’ll have to find out what they are like at the show.
I could bring you wealth of interesting local and national designs OR none at all so watch this space!
