Format of Competition
* This competition is open to only individuals. Group submissions are not allowed.
* Members of the Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (SYOGOC), the panel of judges and their immediate families are not permitted to take part in this competition.
* Professional organisations are not permitted to take part in this competition but their employees may participate in the competition in their personal capacity.
* The competition is divided into two categories:
a) Youth category (18 and below)
b) Open category
* Each participant may submit only one design proposal.
Judging
Contest entries will be judged by a panel of local and international experts and their decision will be final.
Submission
Entries can be submitted online via the link at the bottom of this page.
* All participants must complete the entry form which includes:
(i) Personal particulars
(ii) Creative rationale (in about 200 words) explaining the concept of the design.
* All online entries should not exceed 1MB in file size and must be submitted in .jpeg or .gif format. Participants may be asked to submit a higher resolution rendition of their design.
* By participating in this competition, all participants acknowledge that they understand and agree to the full Terms and Conditions of this competition.
* All entries and accompanying documents submitted to the Organiser must be in English.
* The closing date for submission is 29 August 2008.
Guidelines for Design
* The logo should cover three broad themes:
(i) Youthful spirit
(ii) Values of Olympism
(iii) The Singapore identity
* The logo should work well in a variety of applications from stationery to digital media, clothing, outdoor banners, commemorative items, etc.
The Singapore 2010 logo should include the following 4 elements:
* A distinctive element.
* The name of the City and the year of the Youth Olympic Games, namely the wordmark “City Year” (i.e. Singapore 2010).
* The Olympic symbol (i.e. the five rings).
* The wordmark “Youth Olympic Games”.
a) The distinctive element.
The distinctive element should be original.
b) The name of the City and the year of the Youth Olympic Games.
The wordmark “Singapore 2010” must not be separated.
c) The Olympic symbol.
* The area covered by the Olympic symbol contained in the submitted design must not exceed one third of the total area of the logo. The symbol must also be positioned at the bottom of the logo.
* The Olympic symbol must appear in its entirety and must not be altered in any way.
* There should be an “isolation” area around the Olympic rings in which no other type, graphic and/or photographic elements must encroach. The isolation area can be described as below :
d) The wordmark “Youth Olympic Games”.
The wordmark “Youth Olympic Games” must not be separated.
