All BYU students who have traveled abroad or who will travel abroad by the deadline are invited to create a short film relating to an international experience. The film may include personal stories that were inspiring, humorous, educational, or bizarre; a photo montage; interviews; your perspective of different cultures and countries or that of natives; etc. The opportunities are limitless on the kind of short film you can submit so long as it somehow addresses the theme: Expand Your World.

Grand prize : $500

Film Guidelines
1. Submissions must be between two and five minutes in length.
2. The film must fit the theme: Expand Your World.
3. Submissions will be accepted until Friday, 15 January 2010.
4. Print and fill out the entry form.
5. Submit your film at the highest possible quality on DVD with the entry form to 204 HRCB before the deadline.
6. All films must abide by the legal terms and conditions listed below.
Judging
Entries will be judged on the following criteria:
* Creative concept/Originality (25%)
* Cinematography/Technical Ability (25%)
* International Relevance (25%)
* Depth of Country/Culture Portrayal (25%)
Judging will be conducted under the supervision of the David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies; decisions will be final and binding. In the event of a tie, the entries involved will be re-judged by an additional judge who will serve as a tiebreaker and who will evaluate entries according to criteria listed above.
Awards
Winners will be announced during February 2010.
Prizes will be:
First Place—$500 Cash
Second Place—$250 Cash
Third Place—$100 Cash
Please keep original footage in the event your film is selected for an award.
Legal Terms and Conditions
Original Content
All film entries must be the original creation of the entrant. The video must not have been previously submitted, distributed, aired, or have won any other award in any other competition. All entrants will be required to sign an affidavit verifying the originality of the video and compliance with contest rules.
Appropriate Content
Entry may not defame or invade the rights or privacy of any person, living or deceased, or otherwise infringe upon any third-party personal or proprietary rights. Any entrant whose work includes likenesses of third parties or contains elements not owned by the entrant must be able to provide legal releases for such use. Entry may not be offensive, as determined by judges in their sole discretion.
Kennedy Center Rights
In the event there are not sufficient submissions or films of good quality, the Kennedy Center reserves the right to not award any films.
Consent to Terms
By entering, you acknowledge compliance with these official rules including all eligibility requirements. All entries become the property of the David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies.
